TLIS Certification for Technology Leaders in Independent Schools
In November 2024 I passed my TLIS exam. ATLIS, the Association of Technology Leaders in Independent Schools, created the TLIS certification process in 2024. A person with ATLIS certification "consistently demonstrates experience, competency, and commitment to serve independent schools in the technology leader role with strength and excellence."
"The Technology Leader in Independent Schools (TLIS) certification program is designed to recognize individuals serving in technology leadership positions at independent schools who demonstrate proficiency in a variety of domains including, but not limited to, technology infrastructure, data security, digital citizenship, instructional technology, and leadership."
Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL)
In April 2024, I earned my CoSN CETL certification. The CETL® program is the only accredited practice-based certification program available to education technology leaders that bridges technical knowledge, understanding of the educational environment, leadership and vision, and the management of technology and support resources needed to integrate technology across the curriculum to advance student outcomes.
"The CETL®credential is a true measure of today's education technology leaders, identifying those who have mastered the framework skills and knowledge needed to bring 21st-Century skills to schools. The CETL® program is also a professional development tool that can be used to guide education technology leaders' study of learning technologies. This certification requires satisfaction of eligibility criteria, the passage of a rigorous multiple-choice exam; adherence to a Code of Conduct; and recertification process every three (3) years."

Cybersecurity Rubric 2.0
Currently working on CCRE (Certified Cybersecurity Rubric Evaluator) training.
The IAM Anthology delves into the IAM framework, including authentication methods such as password policies, multi-factor authentication (MFA) and biometrics, and access control models for AWS, EntraID, and Google platforms. Learners also explore best IAM practices, including breach preparation, incident response planning, cybersecurity auditing, access control, SSO integration, and duty segregation. The IAM Anthology includes the four classes below:
Explore the benefits of Identity Access and Management (IAM) for school systems and examine its fundamental concepts, goals, and framework. By the end of this learning experience, you will be able to:
Describe the benefits of IAM for school systems.
Identify key IAM concepts and goals.
Explain the IAM framework principles.
Examine the importance of authentication methods for securing school digital assets! Learners will explore various types of authentication, including passwords, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and biometric scans. Additionally, learners will gain the knowledge and skills to implement robust authentication systems and make informed decisions to protect their educational environments. By the end of this learning experience, you will be able to:
Define the importance of authentication in education.
Explain passwords and passphrase authentication.
Describe the types of multi-factor authentication (MFA) ClassLink offers.
Identify the pros and cons of biometric authentication.
The Access Control course explores key identity and access management (IAM) concepts. Topics include access control models of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC), and Fine-Grained Access Control. Learners also examine the IAM resources for AWS, EntraID (previously known as Azure), and Google platforms. By the end of this learning experience, you will be able to:
Define access control and its key elements.
Explain the differences between RBAC, ABAC, and Fine-Grained Access control models.
Describe the IAM solutions in popular cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and Google.
IAM Best Practices explores cybersecurity breach preparation with automation tools like ClassLink Roster Server and emphasizes the creation of an Incident Response Plan. Learners also explore essential cybersecurity best practices, including access control, SSO integration, and duty segregation. The course highlights the significance of auditing cybersecurity, offering the choice of an in-house audit or professional CCRE assistance with monitoring through Analytics+. By the end of this learning experience, you will be able to:
Describe how automation improves cybersecurity.
Explain how to create an Incident Response Plan.
Identify security protocol best practices.
Navigate and examine audit trails and logs.
Explain how the Cybersecurity Rubric helps schools with security audits.
